| Arizona is one of the warmer Four Corners states, situated south and east of the Colorado River. It borders New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, lightly touches Colorado, and has a 389-mile (626 km) very long, international border with Mexico. Arizona is the sixth largest state in this area, after New Mexico and also prior to Nevada. Aside from the Grand Canyon, a number of other National Forests, Parks, Monuments, and Indian reservations are located in this dessert state. Of the state's 118,000 square miles, approximately 15 percent is privately owned, a little known fact. The remaining area of this diverse state is government forest and park land, recreation areas and Native American reservations. |
